BUSH AND HISTORY WILL JUDGE

POSTED RESPONSE TO A COLUMN IN THE CHICAGO TRIBUNE

You have to wonder about this kind of assertion from a man who has likely never read a serious history book.

Nevertheless, yes, indeed, history will judge.

And its judgment can only be harsh because the facts are so overwhelmingly clear.

The most destructive president in history, both in terms of foreign policy and domestic policy.

A man who has in every way diminished liberty at home.

A man who in his retirement is quite likely to be arrested as a war criminal if he travels much. Much as when the criminal Rumsfeld had to hustled out of France to avoid charges.

But he won't travel. This is the man who bragged in his first election campaign of never reading the international section of the newspaper.

And his record has proven the accuracy of his brag.

I just wish America's mainline media had made available the pictures published in a number of parts of the world during the invasion and during barbaric episodes like the assault of Fallujah.

Children shattered by cluster bombs, in some cases reduced to dark mush on the ground by the use of phosphorus as a weapon. Women like broken dolls on the ground.

In total, the best part of a million innocents destroyed.

And for what? The chaos that prevails in Iraq today.
