HAVING VISIONS - MINISTER FLAHERTY'S CHARGE OF NO VISION AGAINST DALTON MCGUINTY

POSTED RESPONSE TO A COLUMN IN THE TORONTO GLOBE AND MAIL

I think the charge might better be put as having visions, rather than lack of vision.

Dalton seems to have a new vision about three times a week - whether he is talking about electric power, education, the environment, re-creating the province's logo, re-naming highways, or giving us a new holiday named by the American Religious Right.

I don't know, anyway, when having a vision became a merit. I suspect in silly corporate and educational-establishment seminars.

In my view, having visions suits you only to a mental institution.

It is the people with visions who always get our society into great trouble and difficulty.

What we want is sound and thoughtful government.

We do not have it in Ontario, and we certainly do not have it in Ottawa.
