The visionary sci-fi
series first aired in September 1966 – and its utopian, confident blueprint for
society still resonates in the age of Trump
Oh, please.
I am a fan of good science fiction, but this flimsy effort
never made the grade.
The show was more pretentious than visionary.
Stuffed with clichés rather than Utopian.
The acting was hammy, the sets were cheap, the costumes ran
to the asinine, and the stories were sometimes 'borrowed."
Kirk's monologues bordered on the stuff of comic books.
