JOHN CHUCKMAN COMMENT: ON WAR AND PTSD - GOVERNMENTS START WARS OVER GEO-POLITICS AND COULD NOT CARE LESS ABOUT THE HUMAN BEINGS THEY SEND TO FIGHT OR THOSE BEING ATTACKED

COMMENT POSTED TO AN ARTICLE IN THE GUARDIAN

One of the many costs of war is that a certain portion of the men sent to fight will suffer severe psychological damage.

Of course, what our press never tells us is that all war, quite literally all war, is full of atrocities and excesses. It was true in World War II, in Vietnam, in Korea, and of course in Iraq.

When you release human savagery, that is what you get. It cannot be otherwise.

It might be nice if governments ever even once thought of the welfare of human beings, their own and those they attack, before they started a war.

But the fact is that all the wars we have witnessed for decades were completely unnecessary and were started strictly for brutal geo-political considerations by politicians and the establishment.
