Thank you, Gilad Atzmon.

Although, I have to say, as someone who has followed these events periodically, that the unwarranted attacks against Jeremy Corbyn have been even worse than your words suggest.

Including some impossibly vicious stuff. McCarthyism resuscitated. Poison injected into national political debate.

It does not matter what you may think of Corbyn's socio/economic views and policies, such attacks are aimed at the foundations of democracy.

Even the Prime Minister of Israel and the head of the Israeli Labour Party rudely stuck their noses directly into Britain's domestic affairs at various points.

The problem, I believe, is simple to understand.

Genuine liberals and progressives are largely hated in Israel. You can confirm that by perusing the press and political speeches. Why should that be so?

Because one of the defining characteristics of true liberals is unqualified support for human and democratic rights.

Now, Jeremy Corbyn has a long record as a decent and fair-minded politician, one of remarkably few in our Western democracies, a fact which only makes the attacks on him all the more hateful. Some of the stuff has definitely been hate-speech.

As you might expect, Corbyn is fair-minded about Israel/Palestine, and that simply is not allowed. Not allowed by the lobbies attacking him.

The lobbying has pulled out all stops to prevent his ever heading a British government.

The lobby’s early pressure made him work win the leadership of his Party a second time, which he handily did, much to their chagrin.

Old war criminal Tony Blair came out of hiding to join the attacks on Corbyn at the time. Blair, of “helping kill a million souls in Iraq” fame and winner of the million-dollar “Israel Peace Prize” plus a large number of other rewards and preferments, all making him an exceedingly rich man for his help in destroying a society, one of the most advanced in the Arab word.

So, a vicious campaign was started of personal attack and disinformation with Corbyn’s success and hasn't really stopped since.

The British people have a fundamental question to address here: do you want special interests to direct the nation's affairs or open democratic debate over policy?
