POSTED RESPONSE TO A COLUMN IN THE CHICAGO TRIBUNE
When you read this stuff, it's hard to believe America is a country with satellites in orbit and nuclear-powered fleets roaming the oceans.
Isn't it about time - in the 21st century - to accept that religious comments like these have nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with anyone's ability to serve as leader?
You want a preacher instead of a politician, elect one of those Religious Right frauds that get caught regularly cheating, lying, saying absurd things, hating, or generally being as immoral and unethical as they can get away with.
We all know what Jesus would do. He'd whip the money changers out of the temple. He'd ask the person without sin to cast the first stone. He'd say to pray in your secret closet, not in public like a phony official. And he's say you must care for the least of these.
And then Jesus would be crucified once again by a new generation that actually believes in nothing he said and embraces almost the opposite in all things.
