Thanks for the efforts at summarizing.

Of course, in answer to those who wanted something to be different than it turned out to be, you always have to keep in mind that such negotiations are not by equal parties.

The economic clout of an economy ten times the size of ours always means we step into the ring as a bantamweight against a super heavy-weight with iron bars in his boxing gloves.

And then there's the current American attitudes - contempt and bullying provide an atmosphere for every exchange of any kind.

Our one real underlying strength has always been the American power establishment's wish to not see a hostile Northern border begin to develop, so they do back-off a bit on some things.
