“Why Trump Cannot Control the American Military

“Trump's admirable talk about pulling out of global conflicts is meaningless"

"Perhaps this is the reason JFK was assassinated – a man who was on the verge of dismantling the CIA and pulling out U.S troops from Vietnam."

I don't think there is any "maybe" about it, although I believe the issue of Cuba and the CIA’s years-long terror campaign there, was more central to the assassination than the matters the writer mentions. So, too, were Kennedy’s various arrangements and agreements (as “backchannel” communications) with the USSR concerning Cuba and the general state of the Cold War.

On the wider topic of military and security services control of government, there also is little doubt.

Indeed, if people just think about it, they will realize that it would be virtually impossible to run a massive global empire on the basis of elected officials whose views might be different every 4 to 8 years.

It's something not many Americans have given much thought to - see:

All of which, in addition to the ugly reality we see of new hyper-aggressive efforts by Washington to extend its authority, demonstrates just why America is in fact the most dangerous nation on earth today.

Response to a comment about the US not being very good at winning wars:

No, they aren’t, but if you notice, when they do win, as at the close of WWII, it is by being absolutely ruthless and using terrible weapons. That, they can do.

They considered the same weapons against the USSR (something Kennedy was sickened by after a briefing by the Joint Chiefs) and against China and North Vietnam.

Response to a comment about the CIA being the world’s biggest drug dealer:

Oh, that's been clear for a while.

The CIA does whatever it takes to make plenty of money, off-the-books, needed to run operations no politician even knows anything about

Gun-running has been a big one for them, too.

I suspect counterfeiting, too, sometimes.

Remember, a few years back, when perfect one-hundred-dollar counterfeits were showing up for quite a while? There were a number of newspaper stories about it.

The story was "put out there" that it was North Korea, but I doubt North Korea ever had the technology to do that.

The CIA very much does, excellent quality counterfeiting having been used against countries they don't like to degrade their currency.
