JOHN CHUCKMAN COMMENT: CHINA'S FOREIGN MINISTER WANG YI RIGHTLY REJECTS THE VALIDITY OF AMERICAN LAWSUITS NOW BEING FILED AGAINST CHINA OVER CORONAVIRUS - MOST OF THE WORLD RECOGNIZES WHAT CHINA ACHIEVED IN THE PANDEMIC - BUT NOT TRUMP'S BIZARRE AMERICA - TRUMP'S MAIN ACHIEVEMENT HAS BEEN PILES OF BODIES AT HOME AND ABROAD - OPPORTUNITIES AHEAD FOR CHINA TO OFFER THE WORLD SOME GENUINE LEADERSHIP

Blackmailing China over COVID-19 ‘daydreaming’: Chinese FM

Abusive litigation [lawsuits] against China over the COVID-19 outbreak is groundless, has no factual basis and no international precedent. Attempts to blackmail China over the epidemic are daydreams and won't work, Chinese State Councillor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi

The US is only reducing the respect and influence it receives from a great many countries and international organizations.

Many people understand what is going on, and it is something shameful.

Most of the world recognizes what China has achieved with the coronavirus, and it is the exact opposite of Trump's ugly charges.

Trump's efforts in this, as in other parts of foreign policy, only work towards the day of reduced global domination. That day is coming anyway, but Trump's work speeds it up.

What kind of future relationships can anyone build with a nation displaying America's current attitudes?

Lying about so important a part of the world’s economy as China at a time of world economic fragility?

Ignoring its own responsibility for many obvious errors in the pandemic? A study just published by Columbia University in New York says 54,000 more Americans will die than would have been the case had Trump acted earlier on sound advice he received and ignored.

Tearing up treaties? Lying about other important nations? Threatening people in a dozen places, as Iran, Venezuela, Cuba, etc? Showing absolutely no leadership in the world during the pandemic?

Trump's main achievement, at home and abroad, is the creation of piles of bodies and making the United States look worse than it has ever in memory looked.

You can’t build good relationships on that basis, and the world is going to need the best possible relationships and leadership coming out of a double crisis, one economic and one disease.

Seems like an immense opportunity ahead for China, despite Trump’s hateful rhetoric, designed only to appeal to American prejudices and cover-up his own poor leadership for the upcoming election.
