COMMENT ON POOR PRINCE HARRY
Well, just as I thought, Harry and Meghan are in Los Angeles. It didn’t take long. Never thought Meghan would want to stay in semi-rural and rather unglamorous British Columbia. Los Angeles is where she would want to be, with all the glitter and tinsel and noise, but I can’t imagine it has great appeal for him.
They have a mansion, and I read that Meghan’s mother is coming to live with them. I read also that Harry is a bit troubled by all the changes in his life. He has left behind a loving brother and his charming wife, Kate. He has left behind all the friends and attachments of royalty. He has left behind his country. And he has left behind the only job at which he was any good, walking about in uniform to smile and wave at royal-watchers.
I can’t imagine Los Angeles is a congenial place for him, about as far removed from British Royal territories as you can go. The city likely suits Meghan with its quintessential Americanness, and it would have many opportunities for a new career.
Living with your mother-in-law and a temperamental wife is definitely going to be less than glamorous. We know about Meghan’s temperament, apart from many anecdotes during her time in Britain, just from the lawsuit she has underway against a big British newspaper over its past use of a letter to her father. It was, in fact, the kind of relatively small matter best left to be forgotten rather than taken to court and the glare of publicity for an extended period.
I note that in virtually every photo of Meghan, there is something a bit unnatural, her face is always turned directly towards the camera lens, almost as if guided by radar, with its dazzling smile. Or, in photos with Harry, she focuses on him with a kind of doting attention. She is acting, always, and for every photo.
Well, I wish them well, but I think it is not a promising arrangement.
