JOHN CHUCKMAN COMMENT: AMERICAN ANTI-MISSILE TEST FAILS - THERE IS MAINLY A HISTORY OF FAILING - WHY THE SYSTEM IS NOT USED IN A REAL PUBLIC SITUATION

COMMENT POSTED TO AN ARTICLE IN THE INDEPENDENT

US missile defence test fails in Hawaii with 'military unable to shoot down incoming target'
Test comes amid heightened tensions with North Korea

The anti-missile program has a long history of failures and propped-up half-successes.

There are scientific authorities on the subject who say this cannot even be done reliably at this stage of our technology.

I can only assume the system's lack of reliability is a reason for not shooting down test flights by North Korea, a measure which would be a whole lot cheaper and less threatening than Trump's big, dumb, noisy show.

After all, the US has literally billions in contracts for sales of the system to other countries. Public failure under real-life conditions could cost serious money.
