Putin’s Russia can’t
celebrate its revolutionary past. It has to smother it
The Russian Revolution
was a fight against the excesses of the rich. No wonder Vladimir Putin wants to
ignore the centenary
"Putin’s Russia
can’t celebrate its revolutionary past. He has to smother it"
I can't see the point of writing such an article.
Good God, for decades the West condemned the Russian
Revolution.
Countries like Britain even sent troops to stop it but
failed.
Every major figure associated with it - Lenin, Stalin,
Trotsky, etc. - has been treated as a monster of history in our press and
films.
And, as anyone who keeps well-informed on affairs, Putin has
worked extremely hard to build a modern Russia in keeping with Western business
practices and open to international trade and relationships.
So, now, he's avoiding the Revolution because of something
wrong in his Russia?
Truly, notes for this article could have been written in
Langley, Virginia.
