Well, of course, what is being done to families is just terrible.

But I am extremely skeptical about Canada's reasons for doing what it is doing.

The vague stuff about "sonic weapons" started with American officials a couple of years ago.

And the truth is, unfortunately, who can believe anything American officials say anymore? It's just a fact that a stream of questionable claims about a great many places come from American officials these days.

And we know the current government in Washington has considerable animus towards Cuba. They've already named it in public, along with Nicaragua and Venezuela, as part of a “Troika of Tyranny,” all due for treatment along the lines of Venezuela.

Canada's Foreign Affairs today are handled in many respects as though we were a branch plant of the United States. Could this be just one more case, like our unpleasant dealings in the Lima Group, an outfit created to help overthrow the government of Venezuela?

Cuba of course has big historical connections with Pierre Trudeau, so if we were going to take off on a new American-motivated hostility in reducing services in Cuba, maybe we'd need something like the story about "sonic weapons" to make the decision more palatable?

It should be noted that recorded sounds of the American “attacks” some while ago were analyzed by scientists to be nothing more than the loud sound of Jamaican field crickets, which are plentiful in Cuba.

It should also be noted that the US only very recently announced a new set of restrictions against Cuba.
