JOHN CHUCKMAN COMMENT: A VERY POOR EXCUSE OF A "JOKE" ABOUT BRITAIN'S NIGEL FARAGE - ALL OF OUR POLITICS SEEM TO BE TURNING VICIOUS AND TRUMP-LIKE

John Chuckman

COMMENT POSTED TO AN ARTICLE IN THE INDEPENDENT

“Theresa May has told the BBC it needs to explain its decision to broadcast a joke about throwing acid at politicians.

“Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage has accused Jo Brand of inciting violence following the comment on a Radio 4 show”

Much as I dislike Farage, I cannot accept such words.

Words about throwing battery acid at someone are not a joke in any sense of the word.

They are vicious, threatening, and darkly suggestive to the weak-minded.

The milk-shake stunt was in the best tradition of British off-beat humor and protest. Monty Pythonesque.

Genuinely funny, keeping Farage on a bus under threat of having milk shakes tossed at him.

But this "joke" is not amusing. It’s almost like something from Trump’s foul mouth.
