JOHN CHUCKMAN COMMENT: I ADMIRE THE SPUNK SHOWN BY THE BRITISH PEOPLE DEMONSTRATING AGAINST TRUMP'S VISIT - WHAT IT REVEALS ABOUT PARLIAMENTARY GOVERNMENT AND DEMOCRACY

COMMENT POSTED TO AN ARTICLE IN CBC NEWS

“Britain relying on the royals to smooth Trump visit

“U.K. 'special relationship' with U.S. 'more complicated than it used to be,' says ex-ambassador”

The government of Britain has been slavishly loyal to the interests of the American empire for a couple of decades.

But, interestingly, the people, as shown in their demonstrations, still display spunk.

I do like that.

Of course, one of the things it highlights is how undemocratic Britain's Parliamentary system truly is.

Get something in the mid- to high-thirty percent of the vote, and you can rule as "a majority."  And with enough money donated, that is an attainable goal for most elections.

And we find pretty much the same thing in Canada.

Trudeau was supposed to reform that, and he swore up and down in his campaign that he would, but he let everyone down, as he has done in so many things.
