“DOJ Bloodhounds on the Scent of John Brennan
“With Justice Department investigators’ noses to the ground, it should be just a matter of time before they identify Brennan as fabricator-in-chief of the Russiagate story”
Yes, I think the author is correct.
After all, Brennan's efforts along these lines would only be supporting and re-inforcing the American establishment’s intense general dislike of Russia.
Perhaps, “dislike” is too mild a word.
America's establishment just cannot get over the fact that there actually is a nation out there that could obliterate the United States, China, given its greater distances and far fewer missiles (so far), not yet being in a position to do that.
A deep coloration is given to the imperial prejudice, too, by all those decades of hysterical Cold War, anti-Russian propaganda.
Everyone was affected, and the effects linger like those of toxic sludge just beneath the surface in a hundred places, no effort ever having been made to clean-up American thinking and prejudices the way postwar Germany worked on that nation’s thinking and prejudices.
So, it is a handy tool to have sitting on the shelf, lingering attitudes towards Russia, ready to employ in matters like this as well as others, as we see in everything regarding Ukraine and Putin’s calm and reasonable approach to that ugly, paid-for American coup on a major Russian border.
Russia simply is America's Carthage, a view supported by countless anecdotes and statements and activities.
Brennan, being a partisan of Hillary Clinton, likely felt he couldn't go wrong tying an attack on Trump into Washington's prevailing ethos.
And for quite a while, he proved right.
Ironically, what Trump has come around to representing is almost Hillary on steroids.
He has worked to protect himself from impeachment and other threats by embracing the most extreme American neocon and establishment views.
So, in a very real sense, Brennan and his ugly crowd won.
