JOHN CHUCKMAN COMMENT: NEW DISCOVERY OF LARGE SUBSURFACE ICE SHEET ON MARS - BUT ENTHUSIASM OVER ITS IMPLICATION FOR FUTURE ASTRONAUTS IS A BIT SILLY

COMMENT TO AN ARTICLE IN THE INDEPENDENT

Huge ice sheets on Mars could allow humans to live on the Red Planet, Nasa spacecraft shows
You can go out with a bucket and shovel and just collect as much water as you need,' one scientist said. 'I think it's sort of a game-changer'

"Huge ice sheets on Mars could allow humans to live on the Red Planet"

It's an interesting find, but it takes a whole lot more than ice sheets to make a place habitable.

Rather silly enthusiasm.

Mars is like the South Pole, only colder, and without any air, without much sun, and with tens of millions of miles to travel to the nearest food supply.
