Trump’s escalating
threats to Iran risk destabilising the Middle East
The confrontation
between Washington and Tehran has worsened since the US President signed ‘his
last’ waiver on new sanctions. Trump and his generals have convinced themselves
they just need to kick the Iranian regime and it will collapse
Israel's intense and never-ending efforts against Iran are
the explanation. Trump is nothing but the delivery boy.
American politicians are always deferential to Israel - for
a variety of reasons, including a constant flow of lobby funds and the
ever-present threat of bad publicity in a lopsided press - but I think Trump
has proven himself to be quite literally the first Doormat-for-Israel
President.
Israel hates Iran because it is a large and potentially
powerful and influential state.
Israel thinks it has the right to be arbiter of all
important matters in the Middle East.
It sees its role in the region as a miniature replica of America's
role in the world.
That really is the only basis for the constant flood of
anti-Iran garbage we see and hear.
Israel is the aggressor, but in our Orwellian press and
political world, it somehow magically becomes Iran, a country which has never attacked
anyone in its modern history, quite a contrast to Israel which has attacked
every neighbor that it has, some several times.
