“Trump condemned by 12 former CIA chiefs over revocation of John Brennan's security clearance
“'We have never before seen the approval or removal of security clearances used as a political tool, as was done in this case'”
Hard to be sympathetic with any of these people.
Every one of them is repulsive in his arrogance, and they represent an agency which is little more than a government mafia organization used to do everything from overturn legitimate governments, suborn elections abroad, and even to assassinate.
Brennan has been caught lying several times, but perhaps more important, he has spoken out in public against the elected leader of his own country.
I think Trump is a disaster, but it is no less of a disaster to have the head of a secret security service making public remarks about politicians. Totally inappropriate and genuinely dangerous.
What the whole noisy, extended matter shows us is not whether Trump is good or bad – I think we can see for ourselves what a loud-mouthed grotesque he is - but what a chaotic and ignorant and unbelievably arrogant place Washington has become.
It has become almost a parody or dark comedy sketch of a great power’s national government.
A comedy-sketch government controlling a thermonuclear arsenal and now desperately engaged in pushing and bombing many parts of the planet to assert its dominance when it isn’t even fit to dominate its own country.
But this is the spectacle a plutocracy pretending to be a democracy gives us.
