JOHN CHUCKMAN COMMENT: BRITISH PRESS TRIES YET ANOTHER TACTIC - EDITORIAL SAYS CORBYN NEEDS TO CLEARLY STATE HIS VIEWS ON ISRAEL - A BRITISH NEWSPAPER DOESN'T KNOW THE VIEWS OF A VETERAN BRITISH POLITICIAN? - SEEMS ODD - AND WHY ARE VIEWS ON ISRAEL MORE FEATURED THAN THOSE ON 200 OTHER NATIONS?

John Chuckman

COMMENT POSTED TO AN EDITORIAL AT THE INDEPENDENT

“To put antisemitism claims behind him, Jeremy Corbyn needs to state clearly his position on Israel

“No one is asking Corbyn to change his mind, but more to tell us what his views actually are – and what they might mean for a Corbyn government’s foreign policy. That’s why it matters”

You don't know his views?

Seems rather odd for editors of a British newspaper.

Especially when the subject is a career British politician.

I live in Canada, but I think I understand his views just from reading.

Really, this is just one more subtle item in the long and relentless campaign against a decent and fair-minded man, the Independent having notably supported the small McCarthyite crowd yelling for Corbyn's political blood.

And for no good reason. Just that he is fair-minded about the Middle East, which is not allowed. God, even loony Netanyahu opened his big mouth to say something about a photo he knew absolutely nothing about, making accusations against Corbyn. Accusations against a decent man from a mass killer and perpetual liar.

That's what you call class.

And then you turn around and go on about imagined Russian interference in elections?

And even if it were not imagined, it would be paltry compared to Israel's persistent and flagrant interference. The Prime Minister and the head of Israel's Labor Party both inappropriately have both jumped right into Britain's domestic political affairs.

How about asking them to explain themselves?

Response to another comment about Corbyn’s standing up to all this:

Well said.

Amazing stamina in the face of brutal unfairness and name-calling.

A remarkable man, decent and with such a calm demeanor.

Which is precisely why Israel doesn't want him, and Israel's Lobby in Britain works relentlessly and even unconscionably against him.

Response to another comment:

Well said and true.

It's been an amazing set of events, conducted by a minority to upset democratic politics in Britain. The man was convincingly elected. Twice.

And just consider how little we hear against this witch hunt in the press. Should give you some suspicion about the press in other matters.

I do give full marks to the Independent for a notably democratic and fair-minded Comments Section, superior to most others, even if some of the articles being commented upon are not.
