This is a very affecting and detailed story of what it is like to be close-up and personal with Israeli authorities when you have done something they don’t like.
Clearly, the West’s politicians and mainline press should speak out against the outrage, but they don’t say a word.
I suppose these abused people can, in a bizarre way, count themselves lucky. The Gaza Freedom Flotilla of 2010, met with even more brutal treatment. Ten unarmed people were murdered by Israeli commandos, many others were injured, and there was a great deal of abuse and theft of property.
Behind all of it, of course, is the fact of Israel’s having turned the refugee camp called Gaza into a gigantic concentration camp where something like a million-and-a-half people live in a broken squalor with nothing permitted to be repaired and basic services like electricity frequently cut-off.
There are frequent additional poisonous insults, such as the spraying of herbicides or the dumping of raw sewerage, so intense is the hatred coming from Israel.
Of course, “the West’s” press and politicians didn’t say a word either about gangs of Israeli snipers shooting unarmed people from behind a tall fence, including a number of women and children, medics and journalists - perhaps, the most outrageous atrocity we’ve seen staged in public anywhere in our time.
Thousands shot, hundreds seriously wounded or crippled, and over a 150 murdered by cowardly Israeli soldiers, kneeling behind a big fence and using powerful sniper rifles, in some cases with banned dum-dum style ammunition, which when it wounds blows out huge chunks of flesh or bone.
It resembled some Victorian imperial excess, a massive safari party, a killing orgy, shooting thousands of animals somewhere in Africa around 1897. They actually used to do such things, you know.
And no one who counts or has any authority said anything. Oh, I forgot, that remarkable American diplomat, Nikki Haley, assured us that Israel had shown great restraint.
A single clearly-faked gas attack was enough to bring an instant rain of dozens of cruise missiles against innocent targets in Syria, such is America’s intolerance for inhumane behavior. But Palestinians are regarded as less than human apparently, so inhumane treatment is not possible. And, besides, the horror in Syria also is an Israeli project.
Well, all actions have consequences, and the West’s treatment of Israel’s many terrible crimes will too.
What kind of a truly hellish society is Israel working towards?
