“Women still struggling to make RCMP's elite Emergency Response Team

“In the unit’s 40-year history, just one woman has successfully joined its ranks”

This is always a problem when such traditionally-male outfits try to represent women too.

The fact is these are "muscle" outfits, and it is just a fact that women in general do not have the same physical capacities.

That's why there are separate women's sports.

It is good to keep the doors open, to keep trying, but significantly lowering standards simply lowers response.

One other approach in such circumstances has been assigning women recruits to jobs in the outfit not quite on the frontline, but that may not go down well politically.

The simple fact is that our society is now torn in many areas between the desire to fairly allocate jobs and the reality that perhaps some jobs simply cannot be so allocated.
