JOHN CHUCKMAN COMMENT: CANADA'S FOREIGN MINISTER HEADS TO WASHINGTON FOR TALK ON NAFTA - WHAT ANY AMERICAN MOVEMENT ON DEMANDS MEANS

CHUCKMAN COMMENT POSTED TO AN ARTICLE ON CBC NEWS

Chrystia Freeland going to Washington about NAFTA

Response to a comment about Trump negotiating:

Well, yes, but again he does not personally negotiate. Appointed experts do.

But he does, in fact, know how to capitulate. He has done it several times in the last year. I'm amazed his belly-over-belt acolytes in trailer parks across the continent still regard him as a leader fighting the establishment. It's a bad joke.

And right now, Washington is facing a cluster of disasters of its own making.

Huge new Chinese tariffs in response to The Great Orange One's blowhard efforts.

Serious problems with Russia owing to the many stupidities piled up against them (and thanks to Chrystia and Justin for joining in on that mindless crusade).

The EU crumbling.

And lots more.

Trump may be quite ready to back off and keep NAFTA despite threats. There are also military and security implications of happy border neighbors he may have been reminded of.

If he does, it will have nothing to do with Chrystia Freeland’s efforts, one of our most embarrassing Foreign Ministers.

It won't even have a lot to do with our fluffy, always politically-correct Prime Minister either.

It will be the Empire's examining its situation and deciding to change course on something.
