Let's hope so, but I won't hold my breath.
Western governments, all of them, today are one-hundred
percent committed to this kind of deception and lying.
It is no longer unusual.
The reason is America's state of hyper-aggression to
dominate world affairs with all its Neocon Wars and its Anti-Russia Crusade.
That isn't letting up any time soon.
And European governments all are under intense pressure behind
the scenes to toe the American policy line. We see this so clearly in the fact
that there is not a single leader’s voice in Europe ever raised against what
has been a two-decade long record of mass killing, needless destruction, and
the creation of millions of refugees.
America's drive for "full-spectrum dominance
everywhere" is closely related to the interests of Israel. They have an
almost symbiotic relationship. And, as we've seen in Britain recently, the
Israel Lobby is about as influential in government affairs there as it is in
the United States.
We've seen a vicious, noisy campaign against Labour Party
leader Jeremy Corbyn with ugly claims around anti-Semitism and absolutely no
evidence produced. Much the same modus operandi we see with the British
government’s mindless Skripal accusations.
It’s an old and dirty technique for getting what you want,
working outside normal, legitimate channels of democratic politics. Throw
enough crap at the wall, and some of it sticks. The Twentieth Century’s
preeminent exponent of the technique was Joseph Goebbels. It was the technique,
too, of Senator Joseph McCarthy in the United States a couple of decades later.
It still works, and that is why it is still used by the unscrupulous.
Corbyn is fair-minded on the Middle East, and that simply is
not tolerated by the Israel Lobby, and elements inside Israel have even joined
the attacks. Imagine, the leader of the Israeli Labour Party even butted into
British internal politics on the matter, and he was not criticized in the least
for such blatant interference in the affairs of another country?
The anti-Russian stuff, all of it, is just an extension of
the same efforts. Russia is a barrier to America's total, unquestioned
dominance in the world, and the lobby for America's Mideast colony does not
like it.
Then we had the revelations not long ago, with recordings,
about some Israelis plotting to unseat disliked members of the British Parliament.
That ugly business, while quickly silenced by the press and the recall of an
Israeli representative, just gave us a peek at the kind of activity which
undoubtedly goes on day-in, day-out.
No, I don’t necessarily believe Theresa May’s government
will fall over this, although it obviously deserves that fate. Her behavior and
that of her foreign minister and her minister of defense have been shameful and
literally criminal at times.
If she does fall, it won’t be so much over the substance of
her lying and hypocrisy, it will be over the perception of incompetence in
having been caught in the act. The same level of incompetence displayed by
David Cameron in his idiotic EU referendum.
